Overview of Academic Research
Prof. Xi-Lin Wang’s research interest is the systematic study on photonic quantum information processing with photons’ various degrees of freedoms including polarization and orbital angular momentum, for resolving the outstanding challenges in programmable control and applications of photons.
His major achievements include:
* Manipulation photon’s multiple-degree-of-freedom:
Quantum teleportation of multiple degrees of freedom of a single photon;
18-qubit entanglement with six photons’ three degrees of freedom.
* High-quality entangled photon source:
Experimental ten-photon entanglement;
Postselection-free cavity-enhanced narrow-band orbital angular momentum entangled photon source.
* Applications of novel entangled source:
Experimental demonstration of quantum pseudotelepathy;
Hong-Ou-Mandel interference between two hyperentangled photons enables observation of symmetric and antisymmetric particle exchange phases.
Research Directions/Fields:
Manipulation of photonic orbital angular momentum;
High-dimensional, multi-degree-of-freedom, and multi-photon quantum entanglement, with applications in quantum imaging and precision measurement;
Narrow-band entangled photon sources and their interactions with atoms.
