Overview of Academic Research
Dr. Peng Huang’s research interest is the continuous-variable quantum secure communication, with a focus on overcoming core challenges such as high-speed long-distance continuous-variable quantum key distribution (CVQKD) theory, key technologies, and system implementation.
His major achievements include:
Proposed and experimentally demonstrated a long-distance, high-noise-resistant CVQKD scheme based on non-Gaussian operations and basis encoding, achieving the first breakthrough in secure key generation over 100 km of single-mode fiber and at Gbps-level high-speed Gaussian-modulated CVQKD.
Conducted comprehensive studies on the impact of atmospheric effects on CVQKD and developed key technologies for free-space CVQKD, including excess noise suppression, parameter estimation, data synchronization, and acquisition, leading to the first experimental demonstration of secure free-space CVQKD over 7-10 km in real-world conditions.
Identified and analyzed multiple practical security threats in CVQKD systems, such as laser seeding attacks, attenuator attacks, modulator chip attacks, and birefringence attacks, and proposed effective countermeasures based on machine learning and asynchronous lookup communication.
Published related findings in high-impact journals including Research, Photonics Research, New Journal of Physics and so on.
