Overview of Academic Research
Primarily engaged in theoretical research on chemical reaction dynamics. Developed quantum time-dependent wave packet theory methods for polyatomic reactions and established a scheme for constructing high-precision potential energy surfaces, extending the precise theoretical study of reaction dynamics from triatomic systems to polyatomic systems. Addressed the quantum scattering problem for tetraatomic reaction systems and pioneered precise theoretical calculations for representative gas-phase hexatomic reactions. Resolved fundamental scientific questions regarding how factors such as collision energy, quantum states, vibrational local modes, and isotopic substitution of reactants influence reaction probabilities, product quantum states, and spatial distributions in polyatomic dynamics processes like H2+OH, H+H2O, and H/Cl+CH4. Through close collaboration with experimentalists, discovered new reactive resonance states in F/Cl+HD reactions, revealed their quasi-bound state nature, and confirmed the widespread existence of resonance phenomena in vibrationally excited state reactions. Published over 300 research papers, including 11 papers in Science and 6 papers in PNAS as sole or co-corresponding author. Invited to contribute a review article for the Annual Review of Physical Chemistry.
