Overview of Academic Research
Ziji Xiang is an associate professor of experimental condensed matter physics working at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). His major research interests lie in unconventional superconductivity and emergent quantum phenomena in strongly-correlated electron systems, particularly f-electron materials. His research focuses on the experimental exploration of transport and thermodynamic properties of correlated quantum matter.
His/her major achievements include:
* Discovery of quantum oscillations under high magnetic fields in Kondo insulator YbB12 (the first experimental evidence of electrical resistivity oscillations in correlated insulators); proposal of the two-fluid model for the interpretation of such phenomenon
* Discovery of superconducting stripe phase as a result of ferromagnetic proximity effect at the KTaO3-based oxide heterointerfaces
* Observation of abnormally enhanced Hall Lorenz number and unusually violated Wiedemann-Franz law in magnetic Weyl semimetal NdAlSi; establishment of the explanation based on inelastic Kondo scattering.
Research Directions/Fields:
Novel emergent phenomena in strongly-correlated electron system under strong magnetic fields
Transport and thermodynamic properties of unconventional superconducting states
Manipulation of topological order of electronic bands in 3D materials
