Overview of Academic Research
Prof. Tao Liu’s research interest is the systematic study on time-frequency generation and transfer, for resolving the outstanding challenges in fiber-optic time-frequency transfer and the development of ultra-stable lasers.
His/her major achievements include:
* Independent development of ultra-high-finesse optical reference cavities
* Development of an engineering prototype for a hertz-level (Hz-level), self-locking, narrow-linewidth laser.
* Achieving tens of picoseconds precision on a thousand-kilometer field-deployed communication optical fiber
Research Directions/Fields:
Optical fiber time transfer
Optical fiber frequency transfer
Development of ultrastable lasers
